How to set dhcp on your Windows Xp


a)

  • 1) Click on Start icon;
  • 2) then click on Control Panel.

b) In the Control Panel window: search for the Network Connections icon and click on it.
Search for the Network Connections icon and click on it ...



c) In the Network Connections window:

  • 1) using the right click of mouse, click on the Local Area Connection….. VE Network … icon;Local Area Connection icon.
  • 2) then select Properties.

 Select the Local Area Connection properties ...


d) In the Local Area Connection Properties window, General tab:

  • 1) click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP);
  • 2) then click on Properties.

Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click on Properties ...


e) In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window:

  • 1) put a check in the Obtain an IP address automatically box;
  • 2) put a check in the Obtain DNS server address automatically box;
  • 2) click on OK to save the settings and close the window.
Please note: if in this window you have some values, which you use in other Institution, WRITE THIS INFORMATION, BECAUSE AFTER DHPC SETTING the previous values will be automatically REMOVED.

Fill in carefully the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window ...


f) In the Local Area Connection Properties window: click on OK to save the settings and close the window.
Click on OK.
