Students Licenses

Student software is for use by students to meet course requirements and perform academic research at degree granting institutions only. It is not available for government, commercial, or other organizational use.

Students can have up to 4 (four) home licenses (this means, for example, that they can install Matlab-home on two different laptops and two different home desktops, or to both your windows and linux operating systems in the same laptop)

What are the difference between student software and the professional version of MATLAB?

Student software provides you with the same power and functionality as the professional version of MATLAB. There are a few small differences between the student software interface and the professional version of MATLAB:

  • The prompt in student software is EDU»
  • Printouts contain this footer: Student Version of MATLAB

Simulink in student software provides the full functionality of the professional version of Simulink, with the following differences:

  • Models (including the blocks in referenced models) are limited to 1000 blocks
  • Accelerator and Rapid-Accelerator simulation modes are not available in student software
  • Model blocks can be used in Normal mode only
  • Printouts contain this footer: Student Version of MATLAB

MATLAB Home provides you with the same power and functionality as the professional version of MATLAB. The difference is that MATLAB Home is only available for personal use, and cannot be used for government, academic, research, commercial, or other organizational purposes.
